TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about her journey,

You have had quite the journey in this industry, playing some of the most prolific and beloved roles. How has that been for you?

The journey to be very honest has been really beautiful, starting with performing in the school of college, moving on to theater and then meeting and working with people like Shoojit Sircar, and then going on to do so many ads,  my first film Parineeta and then Lage Raho. The journey has been so nice because I have been offered roles with people from whom I have gotten so much to learn from and then as you age, you keep getting good work while learning again and then you have so much to contribute to the project you are doing. Television started with Tere Liye, Kumkum and Kundali, where the shows are still on but I felt I had nothing more to contribute to it, even though it was too dear to me and too difficult for me to disconnect but as an actor, I did not feel like I had anything more to give. But then Harphoul came with Molkki and Naagin before that. I feel blessed that I have always worked with great people and because I love acting I give my 100% to it.

You have played the roles of different others and all of them have had different characteristics. How do you prep for the roles, and how do you make it different?

It’s because I have two daughters at home, so I have Pragya, Preeta, and Bulbul all at my home only kind off and mother syndrome is quite universal I think. Its the mother instinct, and in Harphoul Mohini also, she is a mother and a mother-in-law. So when I heard about the character, I had started building her up in my mind a little bit, and then you start going back, how she must have been or how she must have gotten married, or how educated he would have been and these minute details help build the character. It is the same thing that I did with Sarla as well, and Molkki Prakashi also. I feel that I have always maintained the characters to be real because the more real they are the more the audience connects with them.

What made you say to yes to the show ‘Harphoul Mohini’? What was the X-factor for you?

I’ll be very honest. After I left Kundali I wanted to venture into different projects that were being offered to me. At that time, I was working on ‘Babli Bouncer’and I had call at the same time but I said no initially, because I wanted a break from TV shows. But, when I came back to Mumbai, I got the call again and they told me to just listen to the character once. When I did, I thought If I  wait, maybe such a strong character might not come my way so soon, and I had never done a rural character before and wanted to challenge myself to do it because the character had very different mannerisms and a very different kind of life. It is such a strong character and I always gravitate towards them. Its been a fun experience.

Supriya Shukla stars as Phoolmati on the show Harphoul Mohini and the show also stars Zebby Singh and Shagun Sharma.
