Girdhar Swami gets candid about his journey as casting director.

MUMBAI: Casting directors play an important role in any TV show, web series, or movie. They are one who finds the perfect face which suits a particular character and the one who will do justice to the role.

Many casting directors have made their mark in the TV and film industry and are responsible for giving breaks to many actors who went on to become big stars.

Girdhar Swami is one of them who has been in the casting field for a very long time now.

In an exclusive interview with TellyChakkar, Girdhar opened up about his journey so far in the casting field.

Girdhar said, ''I started as an assistant director of 3 Idiots and ever since then I have been doing casting in the movies.''

Further, we asked Girdhar about his future plans to which he said, ''I aspire to be a director someday and I see that happening soon.''

Speaking about his work and how challenging it is, Girdhar said, ''The work of a casting director is not as easy as it seems to be. We have to go through a lot of actors' profiles before shortlisting one.''

Girdhar Swami has given breaks to actors like Harshvardhan Rane in Sanam Teri Kasam. He also cast popular TV actress Gurdeep Kohli in Akshay Kumar starrer Rowdy Rathore. Akansha Puri was given break by him in Calendar Girls.

He has also worked in projects like Andhadhun, Khelenge Hum Jee Jaan Se, Coolie No.1, among others. Girdhar has worked with ace director Bejoy Nambiar for movies like Shaitan, Wazir, among others.

Girdhar reveals that he wishes to do casting in movies and web shows only and never thought about casting in TV serials.
