I am blessed that after spending two decades in the industry people are still calling me for roles: Rushad Rana

MUMBAI : The newest entry of Rajan Shahi’s Anupamaa is Anirudh plays by actor Rushad Rana, the actor has a long association with Rajan Shahi and he is happy to be part of the daily show.

“When Rajan Shahi was directing a show called Humhare Tumhare produced by Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt I was part of the show. I was always been very fond of him and likewise. And then I did a cameo in Amrit Manthan. After that, we were supposed to do a show but show only never got made and now I am part of Anupamaa. I am very excited to play Anirudh in Rajan Shahi's Anupamaa.”

Speaking of which Rushad says,”Anirudh is an intelligent, smart man but because of his ego, he could not achieve big. He also keeps changing his jobs and also tried business but he failed and due to that he is a frustrated man. Nothing has really worked for him. He is definitely bringing change in Vanraj and Kavya’s life. He is aware of their affair, and also Anirudh and Kavya are not formally divorced.”

Speaking about his long acting career Rushad says,” I am blessed that after spending two decades in the industry people are still calling me for roles. I have no complaints, no regrets. I have got some amazing roles, made good friends. Learnt from my seniors and will continue to do that. Yes, there is more competition now compared to ten or twenty years back.”

Rushad who has been part of some great Hindi films feels he is content when it comes to his role in Hindi films. “Few films which I have done were like stepping stones for me, because I don’t belong to any film family so I was aware that I would have to start with smaller roles. But yes now I feel I want to do bigger parts, performance-driven roles.  I don’t plan anything now especially after covid19 you can not plan anything. There was a time in between when I have been called for very insignificant roles or cameos where I was nothing to do. Sometimes you say yes to those roles because you feel you will get viewership and also there will be some financial benefits too. But now I am very clear that I should not so such roles. In fact, my very dear friend and guide Vikas Gupta had a chat with me and told me that you should chase the bigger parts and I have seen your growth as an actor and after that, I also realized I should do meaningful roles and stop doing characters where I can’t show my acting talent.

Speaking about the lockdown period of over three months Rushad says,”The entire lockdown phase has made me more calm and patient. COVID-19 has taught us that anything can happen to anybody and we have no control over it. From a broader perspective this phase changed me immensely as a human being. And we have seen how helpless we are in the human race in front of this virus. So just be peaceful, be happy and positive.”
