MUMBAI: The joy that cooking gives to some is unmeasurable, especially if you have grown up watching someone cook food with love. Chef Priyanka Biswas, who was among the top 9 contestants of the recent season of MasterChef India, says she has inherited her cooking skills from her grandmother

“I have inherited my cooking skills 101 percent from my grandmother. I loved everything that she cooked,” she said.

In fact Priyanka’s father has complimented her by saying that her food reminds him of his grandmother.

“My father says that his grandmother was a great cook and whenever he tastes something that I have made, he says that it reminds him of his grandmother,” she added.

Now isn’t that a sweet compliment from a father.

The 27-year-old mentioned that she loves Bengali cuisine and added, “I love Bengali flavours. I am fond of Baingan Diya Dimer Jhol (Brinjal and egg curry) and dal made with tamarind, made by my mother.”

The sixth season of MasterChef India was hosted by chefs Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar and Vineet Bhatia.

Talking about how these three inspired her white on the show, Priyanka said, “Chef Vikas Khanna‘s story inspired me the most. He was told that he won’t be able to do anything in his life, just like me. And look how we have beat the odds. Chef Vineet Bhatia taught me not to let the present worry me but instead I should always remember what I am here for. Chef Ranveer Brar, who failed in his initial days, never gave up and later he became successful and learned how to be calm and not to panic.”

Their stories are truly inspiring, isn’t it?

The sixth season of MasterChef India was won by Abinas Nayak and Oindrila Bala was declared the runner-up.
