MUMBAI : Kamya Panjabi, who is a famous television actor, has come out in support of Samajwadi Party MP and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan who on Tuesday charged that the film industry was being defamed and slammed those from the entertainment industry indulging in it, saying they are biting the hands that feed them.

Although the senior actress did not take any names, her remarks come a day after BJP's Lok Sabha MP and Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan said there was problem of drug addiction in the film industry and also actor Kangana Ranaut's recent remarks calling Bollywood a ‘gutter’.

Jaya Bachchan reacted with a statement today in Rajya Sabha saying, “I was really embarrassed and ashamed yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry spoke against (I am not taking the name) the film industry. It is a shame 'jis thali mein khate hai usi me chhed karte hai', galat baat hai.”

Through a Zero Hour mention in Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan said the entertainment industry was being flogged by social media and asked the government to protect and support it.

TV actress Kamya, who has been quite vocal about her support for Sushant Singh Rajput's family after the actor's sudden demise, took to her social media and clarified how she has always wanted to know the truth behind Sushant's suicide and how she is against abusing anyone from the film industry.

She wrote, “As a part of TV i feel SSR was 1 of us n we deserve 2 know what exactly happened on the 14th of june! My stand is very clear!Abusing the film industry n its people is a BIG NO for me too!Peoples focus has been shifted n i m not goin to be a part of that circus!Lots of luv Jaya Ji.” However, this modified stand did not go with several of Kamya's followers and internet users who took to the comment section and expressed their displeasure.
