The popularity of historical and mythological shows has given a facelift to Indian television, so much so that broadcasters and production houses see a success story in untold tales when it comes to mythos and historicals. Celebrating this great achievement, the Twelfth Indian Telly Awards have nominated the best of the ongoing shows that fall under the category of Mythological and Historical series. Taking the alphabetical route, here’s the first show that comes on our list. Devon Ke Dev.. Mahadev on Life OK (Triangle Films Company) has rewritten history with the levels of popularity that the show has managed to scale. Mohit Raina as Lord Mahadev has been a revelation, and has garnered a great fan following for his Godly portrayal. Next on our list is Jai Jag Janani Maa Durga on Colors (Sagar Arts), the mythological series that depicted the tale of the legend of the powerful Goddess Durga. Jai Jai Jai Bajang Bali on Sahara One (Sagar Arts) is yet another mythological show that is going great guns. It deals with certain eye-opening stories for worshipers of Lord Hanuman and the manner in which Hanuman gains strength from Lord Shiv. Next comes Zee TV’s mythological Ramayan: Sabke Jeevan ka Aadhar (Sagar Arts) based on Valmiki’s Ramayan and Tulsidas’ Ramacharita Manas. Ramayan narrates the tale of Ram, the ruler of Ayodhya. We now come to the last nomination, that is Upanishad Ganga on Doordarshan produced by Chinmaya Mission and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The series imparts subtle knowledge of the Upanishads through interesting stories. Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi who inspired one and all as Chanakya on TV got back to the small screen with Upanishad Ganga.
