Rakesh Jain, who was in Sameer Nair’s core team during the days of Imagine TV’s inception, has now joined JD Majethia and Aatish Kapadia’s Hats Off Productions. He comes in as the Creative Director, and will be involved in all their existing and upcoming shows. From 2001 to 2007, Rakesh worked in Star Plus as the Executive Producer, and from 2007 till the day Imagine TV shut down he held the position of the Deputy Creative Director. Ramayan happened to be his first show on Imagine, and he went on to work on various shows like Jyoti, Chandragupta Maurya, Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhungaa. Talking about his association with JD and Aatish, Rakesh told Tellychakkar.com, “My association with them dates back to the days of Baa Bahu Aur Baby, which I handled when I was in Star Plus. Later I worked with them in Jasuben Jayantilal Joshi ki Joint Family on Imagine TV. I know both JD and Aatish on a personal level. As of now, I will work on their existing shows Byah Humari Bahu Ka which will launch on Sony on 28 May (2012), and Ek Dusre Se Karte Hai Pyar Hum on Star Plus.” We asked him about the advantage of being part of a production house after knowing the nuances of how a channel works and he was quick to tell us, “In one line, I would want to tell that I have all the consumer insights, and have a clear idea on what kind of shows will work. The exercise now is to make consumer friendly shows and try to bridge the gap between what the consumer wants to see and what the creator wants to make. JD has a very experienced core team that works on creativity, and we will be making unique and relatable shows.
