Remember Sachin Khedekar? He played the uprighteous professor on Zee's erstwhile serial Teacher and later as Tabu's chauvinistic husband Sridhar in Mahesh Manjrekar's Astitiva. Now, this brilliant actor is gearing up to do something he's not done before.
Sachin will soon be seen anchoring a quiz show called Chamatkar on DD1. Produced by UTV, the 26 episode series which goes on air on 3 September is an innovative series introducing science in a fun and non-intimidating way. "Of late television serials have become regressive and I find that I don't fit into them. So, I found Chamatkar to be an ideal comeback vehicle. The show is informative as well as entertaining. Providing infotainment is more my scene than being a part of the saas-bahu soaps," says Sachin.
Elaborating on the format of the show, Ronald D'Mello, COO, UTV says "Through Chamatkar we plan to provide a refreshers course on the fundamentals in Science all over again through an interesting and exciting format of a quiz show. The show will appeal to a large target audience. It's definitely not like the usual quiz shows with just straight forward questions and answers. "In fact, we have even tied up with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Vigyan Prasar for the show. We found a perfect anchor in Sachin for this."
Not too many people know that Sachin who gave us some real memorable performances in serials like Sailaab and Thoda Hain Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, is an Environmental Engineer.
"To be a part of this show has been a learning experience for me. Questions related to things that we see around us would be asked, allowing participants and viewers to explore the world of science in every part of their lives and understand how the things work. Not just this, but principles of science will be illustrated on the show and we'll even perform experiments on the show," chirps Sachin on a rather excited note.
Besides hosting Chamatkar, he is busy with films like Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana opposite ravishing Rekha where, "Rekha has lent her vocals for a song and I am part of the song," says the actor smugly.
