Another girl, who was aspiring to be a well-known actress someday, took the drastic step to end her life!
As per media reports, Bengali actress, Puja Aich, allegedly attempted suicide by setting herself alight last week.
The actress, who had worked in some of the Bengali serials and films as a junior and a character artist, set herself alight on 11 July.
She was rushed to the SSKM hospital, Kolkata, by her in-laws. She had been undergoing treatment since then, with third degree burns. However, she succumbed to her burn injuries on Wednesday.
It has been reported that her husband and in-laws did not support her choice of profession and raised objections related to the same.
Ironically, she was married to a person who also works in the film industry.
Pradip Aich, Puja’s father said to a website, “Soon after the marriage, her in-laws did not like her working as an actress in the film industry. Her in-laws tortured her mentally and physically. Even the husband did not spare her. She had no other option, but had to take this grave step. I want her in-laws to be brought to book and justice be delivered to my daughter.”
“She wanted to excel in the field of acting and aspired to be a top actress. We are the most unfortunate parents, who had to see their daughter die,” he added.
As per reports, Puja’s parents have registered a complaint against her in-laws and alleged abatement to suicide.
Kolkata Police is investigating the case to verify whether it was a case of abatement to suicide or a murder.
