MUMBAI: One of the longest running and most loved shows in Indian television is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It is loved by audiences all over for its quirky humour and characters. And the director of the show, Malav Rajda directed the show for 14 years before he quit. But now, he is all set to begin work on a new project.

Malav is now all set to helm a new comedy show once again, for a new channel. The show will be titled ‘Professor Pandey Ke Paanch Parivar’, and will star actor Sandeep Anand in the lead role. The show will be produced by Deeya and Tony Singh.

Malav excitedly shared, “It is always important to reinvent yourself. I had been associated with Taarak... for 14 long years and felt that I was creatively stagnating. I had to start afresh and do other things. Professor Pandey Ke Paanch Parivar is a slice-of-life comedy. I am excited to embark on this new journey with a new team. I am going to give it my best.”

Malav also says that he does not agree with the fact that the quality of comedy shows on Indian television has deteriorated. He said, “It is important to do different things in the existing comedy shows and not go with only tried and tested formulas. I see a lot of good work happening in comedy on TV and OTT. Besides Taarak, there is Gullak, Wagle Ki Duniya and Pushpa Impossible. They are all entertaining shows. I don't agree that comedy shows are not as good as they used to be two decades ago. It is important to not just have standup comedy shows, but also introduce good humour in fiction shows. Making people laugh is not easy and TV writers and creative teams are doing a good job. I am happy to do new things now.”
