The mini skits put together by us D3 actors have received an overwhelming response: Shantanu Maheshwari

MUMBAI: Reruns are the flavours of the season and the success of shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat goes on to prove it. Fans of Dil Dosti Dance also known as D3 have been eagerly waiting to see their favourite stars come together again and their prayers have finally been answered. The cast has got together to present D3 skit on Instagram and fans are having a great time watching it. The lead actor of the show Shantanu Maheshwari talked about the skit and the response they are getting.

What do you have to say about the current concept you'll are following for the skit?

We are not following any concept or trend to be honest. We all have been wanting to do something like this for a very long time, but matching everyone’s schedule was a problem so we couldn’t really execute it. So this lockdown just provided that opportunity, for us to be on the same page schedule wise so we could execute it. I mean if we can give people fresh content of their favourite show then why not. These mini skits put together by us D3 actors have received an overwhelming response. The plot and the concept has been changed, to tune it with current times. So these skits are all about time travel from 2015 to 2020 ideated by Palki Malhotra.

Dil Dostii Dance really changed the outlook towards modern day youth shows as it created a niche of its own. What do you have to say about that?

Dil Dostii Dance was the first dance based fiction show. It definitely did bring a new face to youth shows back in 2011. It was a mix of everything. College romance, students chasing their dreams, showcasing a new outlook towards dance being pursued as a passion and true friendship. The storyline and characters maintained an innocence and charm of their own which really helped connect well with the audiences, and especially the youth of course. It also gave prominence to dance and a platform to potential dancers out there. It was a game changer for youth shows back then, and the fact that it is still very much loved and remembered by so many people and it still has that lovely connection with them, is the best part right now.

The D3 cast have always been tight knit and seeing those occasional reunion photos always get fans in a frenzy. So was planning these skits easy for you guys?

It was not easy as per say, as all of us had our personal and other professional commitments to look after first, but yes our rapport and love for coming up with new content did help in speeding up the process to coming together for this. We all made our acting debut together with Dill Dostii Dance, due to which the bond between us all has always been quite strong, so everybody in fact was super excited for this.

Shooting at home is the new trend, so has it been fun shooting at home for the D3 skits?

All actors nowadays have to film at home for influencer content and at times digital content, but filming at home for skits without your co-actors is a fun and different experience. As you become the camera person, the director and the actor all at the same time. It was a bit of a task initially because of the whole action-reaction. But eventually we all got a hang of it. Though nothing would ever beat shooting on an actual set with the entire cast.
