A devastating fire at Film City completely destroyed the elaborate set for the very popular comedy show Comedy Nights With Kapil.
While the cause for the fire is still to be ascertained initial information suggests an electrical short-circuit.
When we spoke to the very popular Kapil he sounded crestfallen but undefeated. “Jo Bhagwan ki marzi...I was in Kolkata for a show on Tuesday. I was supposed to report for shooting for Comedy Nights With Kapil at noon on Wednesday. I decided to drive straight from the airport to the sets to avoid delay. Socha gaadi mein shooting ke beech mein sow lunga...Lekin yahan to maamla hi kuch aur ttha.”
On the way to the set at Film City Kapil was informed of the fire. “When I reached the studio I saw that the set was completely destroyed.”
Luckily the episodes for this coming weekend have already been shot. As for next week onwards only one episode has to be shot per week as Kapil’s show would have to share the coming weekends with Anil Kapoor’s 24.
Says Kapil, “We will be on air only once a week from next week. But the entire set has to be reconstructed at another location. The fire-affected set cannot be used.”
Sportingly Kapil has taken the setback on his chin. “We will work harder and we’ll make sure we don’t miss a single episode.”
