MUMBAI: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured another disappointing outing at home as they suffered their third consecutive defeat at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, losing to Punjab Kings (PBKS) by five wickets in a rain-shortened 14-over match on Friday. The game, held on the 17th anniversary of the inaugural IPL match, was delayed by over four hours due to persistent rain, finally getting underway at 9:45 PM.

RCB’s batting faltered once again, as they could muster only 95/9 in their allotted overs. Punjab’s bowlers were clinical, with Marco Jansen (2/10), Arshdeep Singh (2/23), and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/11) wreaking havoc on a struggling RCB lineup. Only Tim David (50* off 26 balls) offered resistance, blasting a flurry of boundaries in the death overs, including three sixes in the final over bowled by Harpreet Brar, to push RCB to a respectable total.
Punjab Kings, despite a shaky start in tricky conditions, chased down the target comfortably in 12.1 overs, thanks to a composed knock by Nehal Wadhera, who remained unbeaten on 33 off 19 balls.
RCB's troubles began early when Arshdeep removed opener Phil Salt in the first over, followed quickly by the dismissals of Virat Kohli and Liam Livingstone. With the score reading 41/6 by the eighth over, hopes of a competitive total seemed dim before Tim David's valiant effort gave the hosts something to defend.
Despite the fightback, RCB's inability to perform consistently with the bat continues to haunt them this season, as Punjab took full advantage to secure an important win.
