MUMBAI: There is a lot of enthusiasm surrounding Don 3, which stars Ranveer Singh, as he gets ready to thrill the fans as the new-age Don. The film also stars Kiara Advani and is already in pre-production, but fans are eager to see how Ranveer and Kiara will carry on the legendary roles that Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra previously held. The most recent information is that the movie will start shooting early next year.

The source has confirmed that Don 3's timeline is on track, and the team plans to begin filming it early in 2019. "Don 3 was always intended to get on the floors in 2025. The prep has been planned accordingly," the source said.

In the meantime, the film's director, Farhan Akhtar, already revealed to the journal that he will begin shooting his next film as an actor in July of this year.

Don 3 is the much-anticipated 3rd installment of the Don franchise. The first part of the franchise starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead along with Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, and Kareena Kapoor Khan released in 2006 followed by a sequel titled Don 2 in 2011. Don 3 will see Ranveer Singh taking over the franchise in the title role while Kiara Advani will be playing the female lead which was earlier played by PC.

Interestingly, Salim Khan and Farhan Akhtar's father, legendary writer Javed Akhtar, wrote the contemporary version of Amitabh Bachchan's 1978 film Don, which was released in theaters in 2006.

When Don 3, starring Ranveer, was revealed last year, the actor rushed to social media to write a passionate letter expressing how happy he was to be a part of the Don dynasty. The message said, "Gosh! I’ve been dreaming about doing this for a very, very long time! As a child I fell in love with the movies, and like the rest of us, watching and worshipping Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan - the two G.O.A.Ts of Hindi Cinema. I dreamed of growing up to be like them. They are the very reason I wanted to become an actor and a ‘hindi film hero’. Their impact and influence on my life cannot be overstated. They’ve shaped the person and actor that I am. Taking their legacy forward is a manifestation of my childhood dream. I understand what a great responsibility it is to be a part of the ‘Don’ dynasty."

The third installment in the Singham franchise and the fifth in the Rohit Shetty police universe, Singham 3, will feature Ranveer Singh in his upcoming film. In the Rohit Shetty-directed film, Simmba, which has Ajay Devgn in the lead role with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar, Ranveer will return as Inspector Sangram Bhalerao. August 15, 2024, is the scheduled date of Singham 3's theatrical debut.
