MUMBAI:Shikhar Dhawan is an Indian cricketer who represents the country in international cricket. On the domestic level, Shikhar plays for Delhi. He has been in the news lately for his personal life, marriage in particular, which has surely not been a bed of roses. He tied the knot with Aesha Mukerji in 2012 and he has finally been granted divorce.

Aesha and Shikhar welcomed their first child Zorawar in 2014. Aesha also has two daughters from her first marriage. The couple’s marriage hit a rough patch in 2020 and they filed for divorce in 2021. 

Shikhar has been granted a divorce from Aesha in the Family Court in Patiala House Complex in Delhi. In his divorce petition, Shikhar wrote that he had been subjected to cruelty and pain since Aesha barred him from meeting their son Zorawar for years. The judge Harish Kumar accepted all the allegations of Shikar while Aesha failed to say anything in her defense.

During the divorce proceedings and child custody, Aesha took Zorawar and went to live in Australia, thus Shikhar could not meet his child for nearly 3 years. A Delhi family court thus asked Aesha to bring Zorawar back to India for a family get together. Judge Harish stated that a mother alone does not hold all rights to a child, the father does too. And Shikhar wanting Zorawar to meet his grandparents is a reasonable request.

On his decision to never marry again, Shikahr said in a previous interview, “I failed because the final decision is the person's own. I don't point fingers at others. I failed because I was not aware of that field. The things I talk about cricket today, I wouldn't have been aware of the same 20 years back. It comes with experience. Right now my divorce case is going on. Tomorrow, if I want to marry again, I will be much more wiser in that field. I'll know what kind of girl I need; someone whom I can spend my life with.”

Shikhar also confirmed recently that he won’t be playing in the World Cup 2023 after his name from the final list was missing;
