After Turkey, Barfi! set to delight people of Taiwan, China and Hongkong

After satisfying the hearts of the people of Turkey, where it was released earlier this month, UTV’s critically acclaimed blockbuster Barfi! has now set sail for Taiwan, China and Hong Kong where the film is scheduled to release in September. The film has also been invited for a special screening in the out of competition section at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June. This will be the first screening of Barfi! in China. Said an excited Ranbir Kapoor, “I’m elated by the fantastic response Barfi! has garnered overseas. From Busan to Marrakech to Okinawa to Turkey the film has travelled to many countries and now I’m looking forward to Barfi! travelling to Taiwan, Shanghai and Hong Kong too.” Commented Amrita Pandey, Executive Director, International Distribution, Syndication and Disney Media Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, ““We are thrilled to see how Barfi! has appealed to a global audience much like its success in India, North America, UK and Middle East. In Asia, Barfi! has seen much success in key markets, after its screening at the prestigious Busan film festival last year, the film continues to receive accolades including the Grand Jury Award at the prestigious Okinawa Film Festival in Japan. Now our film has been invited for a screening at the Shanghai International Film Festival next month. This precedes its theatrical release in local languages in Taiwan and Hong Kong.” Directed by Anurag Basu, the film has award winning performances by Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz.
