Yesterday, the nightingale Lata Mangeshkar celebrated her 86th birthday.

Though the nation was in a happy mood, an eerie silence gripped the family.

Lata’s nephew and Asha Bhosle’s eldest son Hemant Bhosle passed away late Sunday evening.

The 66 year old music composer was battling with cancer. He was residing in Scotland for the last five years.

Hemant has hits like Jage jage nainon mein" for 'Damaad', Marathi bhavgeet "Shaarad sundar" and "Yeu kashi priya", all of which his mother sang. 'Shraddhanjali' and 'Nazrana Pyar Ka' became popular too under his belt.

The family got an intimidation of the tragedy on Sunday. Asha who was returning from Singapore after an event solemnly headed to Lata’s home to share her grief.

Reports suggest that Asha will head to Scotland at the earliest.

The mother-son duo fell apart after the latter’s divorce. With Asha supporting her daughter in law, Hemant chose to move away from his family.

This is Asha’s second major loss in three years. Her daughter Varsha had committed suicide in 2012.
