Mitali Nag talks about her current plays

Theatre has always been TV star Mitali Nag’s ardent passion. Even while she was shooting for Afsar Bitiya she continued to perform in her play <em>Mohenjodaro</em> which has been written and co-produced by TV scriptwriter Akashaditya Lama. The diligent actress would take a flight from Mumbai to the place in which the play was being staged. She would perform and immediately take the flight back to Mumbai.

Theatre has always been TV star Mitali Nag’s ardent passion. Even while she was shooting for Afsar Bitiya she continued to perform in her play Mohenjodaro which has been written and co-produced by TV scriptwriter Akashaditya Lama. The diligent actress would take a flight from Mumbai to the place in which the play was being staged. She would perform and immediately take the flight back to Mumbai. Mitali plays a Dravidian princess named Sugandha in Mohenjodaro. She says regarding the play, “It is a beautifully written play which has love, action, drama, heartbreak etc. The protagonist of the play Akshat is in love with her. She is also in love with him but is in denial. The climax is beautiful and comes with a nice social message.” Akashaditya adds, “From the statues in Mohenjodaro two distinct figures were extracted- one was that of a priest and the other was of the dancing girl. Mitali plays the dancing girl. She is a very dedicated artiste.” Furthermore, in the play Krishna she plays two strong women from the Mahabharata- Gandhari and Draupadi. Mitali elaborates, “We have picked the best parts of Krishna’s life in the play. It is a musical packed with songs and dances. Playing both Draupadi and Gandhari is challenging. Both are very powerful women who had to tackle with different kinds of difficult situations in their lives. The play had a grand opening in Udaipur in January. The first show received such a grand response from the viewers that we have indeed created a benchmark for ourselves. We will try to raise the benchmark every time.” Way to go…Mitali!!!
