MUMBAI: The crime thriller Bambai Meri Jaan, which debuted on Prime Video last month, follows the life of mobster Dara Kadri played by Avinash Tiwary as seen through the eyes of his father, Ismail Kadri, an ex-cop, who is played outstandingly by Kay Kay Menon. In addition to shedding light on Mumbai's seedy underbelly in the 1970s, the program excels as a family drama that emphasizes how Dara and Ismail's decisions influence their family.
Ismail's anxious wife Sakina Kadri is portrayed by Nivedita Bhattacharya, while Dara's disobedient sister Habiba Kadri is portrayed by Kritika Kamra. Ismail's brothers are portrayed by Jitin Gulati as the oldest son Saadiq Kadri and Lakshya Kochhar as the youngest son Ajju Kadri. Lakshya spoke in-depth about the show and said that the next season will air soon in a recent interview.
The Prime Video show is based on actual people, places, and things, including Dawood Ibrahim and Haji Mastan from Bombay in the 1970s. He said, "These comparisons are bound to happen if you have grown up watching movies about the underworld dons of Bombay. But honestly, Bambai Meri Jaan is a fictional take on the underbelly of Bombay underworld and growing up in the 60s and 70s in the city. Hussain Zaidi, who has written wonderful books on Bombay such as Dongri To Dubai and Black Friday, and other writers have created this amazing world and taken inspiration from real-life instances and nuances from that era."
He continued, "Every piece of art is inspired by something. Every gangster film will have references from The Godfather or The Peaky Blinders. In Season 2, you will realise that our show is fictional because it goes in a different direction and will not follow anyone's life. It will be inspired by a lot of events and films, but the main crux of the story will be different'.”
Additionally, Lakshya confirmed that Bambai Meri Jaan's second season will undoubtedly air because, as he said, "The second season will surely happen at some point. I hope I get a nicer, longer graph to satisfy my acting instincts in the next season. I think Bambai Meri Jaan 2 will mostly focus on the characters of Ajju, Habiba (Kritika), and Babban (Aditya Rawal)".
In the 2018 sports drama Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, Lakshya Kocchar made his acting debut. The movie also features Kunal Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Sunny Kaushal, Amit Sadh, and others, recounts the tale of how the hockey team from independent India won its first gold medal at the 1948 Olympics in London. Gold was a hit, grossing more than Rs 150 crore worldwide.
