MUMBAI:Abhishek Nigam is a well-known personality in the television industry, and today he has a massive fan following.
 
He rose to fame with his performance in the serial ‘Hero – Gayab Mode On’, and he was also part of the Bollywood movie ‘Panipat’.

These days, he is grabbing headlines as he has replaced Sheezan Khan as the lead in the serial ‘Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul’, where he is essaying the character of Ali Baba.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor and asked him about the pressure he faced when he replaced Sheezan Khan as Ali Baba, and how much the star cast missed late actress Tunisha Sharma.

 
It’snot easy to replace anyone in a show as the audience is used to seeing a certain face. How much have you replaced, and has the audience accepted that?

Our intention was never to replace anyone because even Sheezan, who essayed the role of Ali Baba, has a fan following. So, there is no replacement as such, hence the serial’s name is also ‘Andaz Undekha’. We hope that the audience likes what we are doing as it’s something different.

 
You joined the show when there were so many controversies going on. How did you say ‘yes’ to the show, and how did you get the offer?

I didn’t think much about it. What was important was that this show was made with so much love and many people’s hard work is there; just for them. The character is so different and it’s a role that as an artist, I wanted to play such a role.

 
Late actress Tunisha has worked on this show for a long time. Did the star cast ever talk about how much they miss her?

See, to be honest, the body of work that she has done on the show is vast and it's always going to be remembered and spoken about. Though she is not between us today, the work she has done, we all have seen. We should respect it as she has been the best artist I have worked with.

 
Well, there is no doubt that replacing an actor as popular as Sheezan is not an easy task, but Abhishek is doing his best and has made it clear that it’s not a replacement.
