MUMBAI : An FIR has been registered against Bigg Boss 11 fame Sapna Choudhary and her family by Palwal Police in Haryana for allegedly harassing her sister-in-law. The complaint has been registered against the Haryanvi dancer, her brother Karan, and her mother for torturing and assaulting her sister-in-law and demanding dowry. Police are currently investigating the matter. Here is everything we know.

The accuser claimed that when her family was unable to buy a Creta as demanded by Choudhary and her family, they began harassing, assaulting, and sexually exploiting her. Sapna's sister-in-law is a resident of Palwal, and in her police complaint she said that she got married to Karan in 2018, who resides in Najafgarh, Delhi. She further stated that at the time of her marriage her family had given a large sum of gold and had even organised the wedding at a hotel in Delhi, which cost them around Rs. 42 lakhs at that time.

The victim claimed that she had been harassed and assaulted for dowry on multiple occasions. Choudhary's sister-in-law also said that her family had given Rs. 3 lakhs in silver and new clothes when she gave birth to her daughter, but Sapna's family kept asking for a car. In her police complaint, she said that when they did not fulfil their demand, they began torturing her, and last year in May, her intoxicated husband beat her up and sexually assaulted her.

An official case has been registered at a women's police station against Sapna Choudhary, her brother - the husband, and her mother Neelam. DSP Satender spoke to a media portal and said, “We have not made any arrests so far in the case and the matter is under investigation.”

Last November as well, the singer and dancer was accused of cheating as she was supposed to perform at an event in 2018 for which she was paid in advance by the organisers, but did not turn up or perform. An arrest warrant was also issued against her for the matter.

A court also placed charges against four others accused in connection with the cheating case. The FIR (First Information Report) was first lodged against Sapna on 13th October 2018. She had failed to appear at a dance show at the Smriti Upwan in Lucknow on 13th October that year between 3 pm to 10 pm.

Sapna Choudhary is a well-known personality in Haryana. Her claim to fame was with her dance to popular songs like ‘Teri Aakhya Ka Yo Kajal’. Because of her popularity in North India, she got an entry into Bigg Boss 11. She has even performed various item numbers in movies including ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and ‘Nanu ki Janu’. She was even the lead actress in the 2019 movie ‘Dosti Ke Side Effects’.
