While we all know that late Dara Singh acted, produced and directed Hindi films, little did we know that the wrestler-turned-film personality gave television viewers a glimpse of himself in shows like Had Kar Di and Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka in which he played dadaji’s (grandfather’s) roles.

TV actress Sanjeeda Sheikh went tweeted, ‘RIP Dara singh Sir...had a pleasure of working with him in Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka…lovely memories.’

When we got in touch with Sanjeeda to learn about her feelings at this unfortunate moment, she said, “It was great to work with the legendary Dara Singh. He was lovely and a very humble kind of a person; was very committed towards his work. I still remember that I had to do one scene where he held my hand. I felt so comfortable. He is like an angel for me. I feel fortunate having worked with him. I pray to God to rest his soul in peace.”

The veteran, who passed away in Mumbai this morning at 7.30 am, had a long acting journey. Besides playing the lead in innumerable films, his portrayal as Hanuman in the TV blockbusters Ramayan and Mahabharat, caught the viewer’s eye so much that he started being revered as the monkey God.

He featured in 140 films including classics such as Anand and Mera Naam Joker. He was last seen in Jab We Met as Kareena Kapoor (Geet)’s grandfather.
