Tellychakkar.com supports #SaveTheInternet campaign

Don't mess with the Internet, you'll lose. The message is loud and clear, and rightly so. Because anybody who tries to stop the internet from functioning freely is essentially curbing our Freedom of Speech and influencing our consumption behaviour. When we have the complete authority to speak and hold and opinion, we should also be  allowed to publish, read, and watch on the Internet without any bias.

Tellychakkar.com understands the reach, the exposure and the importance of the virtual world and wholeheartedly supports the cause of #SaveTheInternet and net neutrality.

So why this sudden fuss? Apparently telecom companies cannot handle the fact that you're able to use the internet freely. They want you to consume what they want and also pay more and more. The telecom giants have now proposed to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) that they get the right to charge whatever they want, whenever they want, and however they deem it necessary...obviously without any logic guiding the rates. In lay person's language, if Vodafone strikes a deal with Flipkart, Voda can offer Flipkart's services to you for free, while charging you any rate to access Flipkart's biggest rival Amazon's site. Also they can make the loading speed of Flipkart faster than Amazon, of course pouring in more traffic to the former. If you thought this was going to come to effect a decade from now, you've obviously been living under a rock because, if we don't voice our options, this new rule may come into play from as soon as 22 April, 2015.

Apart from charging us a bomb, these companies can make the market place a hell for small players as well as start-ups. They are also, in a way, monitoring our net consumption and forcing us to choose whatever they want us to. Do you allow anybody to tell you which shop to buy your groceries from? Then why are we allowing these big-bucks companies to tell us what to do on the net?

It's time to support the cause of saving the Internet. TRAI has already received over a lakh mails against this move. It's time you acted too. C'mon! Don't let a bunch of companies let the Internet lose its purpose. It's a free medium, and show always be. There shouldn't be any bias in the consumption. Ever.
