Chocolate boy Amit Verma (of Hotel Kingston and Kittu Sab Jaanti Hai fame) is back from hibernation and is all set for a second innings both in films (he had earlier played a role in Kismat Konnection) and TV. And for the same, he has really worked hard on his body and is displaying a lean mean figure (check the above pictures). “I have been practicing Brazilian martial arts since the last three and half years. Body building, for me, is not only about lifting weights, it is also about building stamina and looking good. And I feel I look best when I am lean, so martial art has done the trick for me.” So what kind of film roles are you looking at? “Of late there have many interesting changes in Bollywood, with parallel films like Kahaani and Vicky Donor doing well. For the same I am not only working very hard physically but I am also attending a lot of acting workshops. I am hoping to do intense roles which also show my body, as this is one facet of my acting which I have not been able to show till date. ” The 30-year old Amit also accepts that physicality is very important to break into films. “Apart from acting, looking good is paramount in the visual medium. But you always don’t need to have muscles like say a Salman Khan or John Abraham. I feel that the need of the hour is to have a leaner frame with the right cuts.” He would love to show off a bare upper-bodied look on TV, “I hope I can break that myth. If you can go to the cinema to see somebody’s body, why can’t you accept the same on the small screen? Amit asks. Among the current actors in Bollywood, Amit is most impressed by Akshay Kumar’s lean frame. “The Khiladi Kumar also does martial arts. As this form of exercise is natural and is not dependent on weight, you can have the same body even when you are sixty,” Amit observes. How important is diet control in your health regimen “I believe 70% of your body is made in the kitchen and 30% in the gym. This was quite tough for me being a Punjabi who loves his rajma chawal and tandoori butter chicken. But after all where there is a will there is a way,” he concludes.
