The evergreen star of Bollywood, Dev Anand breathed his last on 4 December 2011. TV stars share their special memories of the young-at-heart Dev Saab with Tellychakkar.com. Zarina Wahab had the privilege of working with him. “He was a perfect gentleman and immensely energetic. I remember when we were shooting for Ishq Ishq Ishq, he treated everyone equally. I was a junior when I started, but that didn’t change his attitude,” she says about Dev Anand. Luckily, she got a chance to meet him last year at the Pune Film Institute, where he was as energetic as before. Shakti Kapoor is another lucky actor who shared screen space with the legend. “He used to tell me that success and failure come and go. But you have to move on in life. What I liked about him was that he lead a very simple life, he didn’t even drink or smoke. What separated him from the rest of the world was his unique dressing sense, which I totally loved,” says Shakti. And then there are others who met him through sheer luck. Sadhna Singh met Dev Saab, as he was fondly known, when the latter was casting for his son's debut film Anand Hi Anand. The actress auditioned for the role only to meet him and even in this brief meeting she could feel his energy. “He had the power to make the youngest person feel old in front of him,” she says of the only time she met Dev Anand. Himani Shivpuri loved his black and white movies. “He was an iconic personality. I was in love with Dev Saab and I am sure all his actresses too must have been in love with him,” she says. “I think Guide is among one of his cult films. I do not remember how many times I have watched that movie. He was way ahead of his time. He will always live in our hearts as he leaves behind amazing work,” sums up Sadhna.
