Cute actor Akshay Sethi whose last major TV appearance was Star Plus’ super hit show Sasural Genda Phool will next be seen in a Tamil film Thalaivaa along with Rageeni Nandwani. “I play the main negative guy. My character is a brash Mumbai superstar who misuses his power.” So did you learn Tamil for the same? “No, they said you can talk in Hindi we will dub it later. They wanted a Mumbai guy so the character looks much more realistic.” How was it working with a fellow TV actor (Rageeni) in a distant land?” “We did not have any scene together; in fact I read in the papers that she is also doing the film which stars south biggie Vijay.” Looking ahead this son of veteran film producer (Jai Santoshi Ma) says he will never give up TV. “After playing character roles (Waris and Rahe Tera Aashirwad) I feel now I should wait for the lead role. I think I can afford to be choosy as I not only have age on my side plus there is no problem of money at home. Having said that, understanding the fact that out of sight can be out of mind, I have recently done 13 episodes (Savdhan India, Adaalat etc) on TV as well. I hope to get a lead soon once fresh shows begin airing post IPL.” Here Akshay informs us that he has recently also been offered a Hindi film as the main lead. “But I am not sure of doing it for being a new set up I am not sure that the producers will be able to do a good job with the making and the subsequent promotions. And I don’t want to enter into Bollywood on a wrong footing.” Akshay really enjoyed his double role in Sasural Genda Phool, “It was a challenge to play a 70 year and 17 year old, both of whom were complete contrasts in shades.” Coming to his personal life, single Akshay, “hopes to get married to a girl of his parents’ choice. “This will happen after elder sister’s marriage which will take place very soon.” Akshay we hope Thalaivaa rocks the Kollywood box office and you get a big ticket lead in a daily TV show as well.
