Kudos and salute to the cast and crew of Colors’ Balika Vadhu. This Sphere Origins show, over the years, has touched hearts of millions of viewers both in India and abroad. And the people associated with the project needs to take a bow, as Balika completed 5 successful years yesterday (21 July 2013). Co incidentally, the show’s channel also completed same years in business yesterday. Balika is one of the oldest and most successful shows of Colors. Its genre, which can be said to be ‘edutainment’, always dealt with socially relevant issues in a vein of entertainment. 5 years is a great achievement…given the fact that today shows go off air in a jiffy. We decided to congratulate the cast and learn about their feelings. Said Shashank Vyas aka Jagya, “Well, let’s put it like this, Balika Vadhu is my school and Surekhaji (Sikri), Anup sir (Soni) are my teachers. The way people cherish their school days the same way I will always remember my Balika Vadhu days throughout my life. This show has given me everything, from acknowledgment to fame. When I walk on the streets people recognize me as Jagya. Currently in the television industry you don’t get a chance to portray one character in so many different shades and I am lucky that I got this opportunity.” “The other day someone told me that the show is not garnering good TRPs now. I would like to answer that we have set a benchmark and to sustain in the competitive market for 5 years, is no mean feat. Balika Vadhu has a different standard now and there is no competition for us,” he continued. How have things changed in all these years? “I did not watch the show earlier, but my mom loved it even back then. Now I am a part of it, which is a miracle and a result of my mom’s blessings.” Now let’s see what lovely lady Toral Rasputra aka Anandi has to say. “It’s been five months now that I am in the show and it has been an amazing experience. Balika Vadhu has always been a fantastic show in terms of content and very different from other daily soaps. I always wanted to be a part of the project and I am thankful to the channel for showing faith in me. Also a big thank you to the entire team of Balika Vadhufor making it a big hit.” Sriti Jha aka Ganga shared, “I am new to Balika Vadhu and yet to complete a year. But this show has always been great in content, storytelling and writing. I am glad to be a part of it. Thumbs up to Surekhaji for creating magic for five years.
