TV’s favorite hunk, Jay Bhanushali, who has showcased his talent across different fields like acting, hosting and dancing, has managed to make a mark in the industry.

The actor, best known for his roles in films like Hate Story 2 and Ek Paheli Leela, is seen hosting children’s’ singing reality show The Voice India on &TV, along with Sugandha Mishra.

In conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Jay spilled the beans on anchoring, competition in the industry and his TV comeback.

Talking about anchoring on The Voice India, Jay said, “When I host any show, I never plan things, but go according to the situation. My main aim is to entertain people. Recently, I have decided not to concentrate on the scripts that the writers have given and go according to the flow. I have shot for few episodes and the channel has really liked it. I hope audiences also love me in the show.”

When asked about the reason for selecting The Voice India, Jay shared, “The first reason to take up the show is my wife. She is a big fan and has watched the previous season as well. She used to tell me to do these type of shows (The Voice India) as they were different from others. My wife’s wish is fulfilled now. And the second reason is the kids. There is a different level of energy with them.”

We also quizzed Jay about actors turning into hosts. Reflecting on the increasing competition, he said, “If actors are turning anchors, then it is a fantastic thing. I think everyone should get a chance. In one or two episodes, if new anchors are not accepted by the audiences, their replacement are ready. I love when I see different hosts on TV. I don’t think that if there is more competition then it will be a loss for me. I think whatever destiny has planned with you, will definitely occur with you.”

So whom do you prefer- a male or female co-anchor? “If given an option between male and female co-anchor, I would choose none. I prefer hosting alone. If a particular episode has failed to impress audiences, I would like to take all the blame and vice versa. I am the captain of the ship. I can rule the stage. In this show, when I was told about Sugandha Mishra being my co-anchor and when I worked with her. I realised that she was different from others. She is the one lady anchor who can talk. She is the one who gives me back, if I crack a joke on her. There are only two female anchors, who are fantastic and have broken the trend of sexy and hot looking hosts. They are Sugandha and Bharti Singh. They always try to do something new and are not like the regular ones,” observed the actor.

When asked Jay on returning to acting on TV, he quipped, “I am not planning to get back to acting on TV. It looks difficult for me as an actor. My wife was working for 30 hours. She used to get up by 7 am and leave home by 8 am and she used to come back by 11 at night. I salute all the TV actors. In my time, I did these things, but now I won’t be able to do it. In fact, sets are also very far and it is impossible to stay away from family for a longer period of time.”

Finally, any plans of working with Mahhi in the future? He said, “I would love to work with Mahhi as she is a fantastic actress. Hopefully, I get a good opportunity so that I can work with her.”
