She’s been a bold kitten in Bengali cinema, open to dropping clothes, do risqué scenes, if the role and the character demand it. But to Hindi television audiences she is best known as the demure Devyani from DJ's A Creative Unit's Maryada… Lekin Kab Tak? on Star Plus. We are referring to the beautiful Bengali actor Indrani Haldar who will be seen in a Hindi film, Strings, which is to hit cinema halls later this year. Co-starring with her are Rajesh Sharma (The Dirty Picture), Shubh Mukherjee and Zeenat Aman, with the director being Sanghamitra Chaudhuri. The film covers the lives of people across three society strata: middle class, upper middle class and lower middle class. What makes her appearance special in the film is that she is playing a cougar and is involved in a long drawn out smooch with a much younger man played by Shubh Mukherjee. Haldar essays the role of a Christian woman who gets into a relationship with the younger man Neel. Her smooch with her co-actor takes place during a song udta hua bhanwra. Says Haldar: “There is a sensuous and beautiful lip-lock between the two of us and it goes on for quite some time. I have been in this industry for over 100 movies and kissing scenes are pretty common these days. Ours has been shot quite aesthetically.” She added that she had to guide Shubh during the kissing as he is quite younger than her. “We did have some comical leg pull moments, but it was a pleasure shooting with the entire cast and crew,” she ends.
