Kuwasha Biswas, who is seen in the Bengali mega daily Simana Periye, is glad to be a part of the show. She plays the title role of Padma and says that the TV series is very special to her. Simana Periye on SUN Bangla narrates the story of a spy, Padma. The tale is set against the background of the India–Pakistan war of 1971. The story focuses on how Padma sacrificed her life unconditionally for her motherland. On being part of the show, Kuwasha said in a statement to TellyChakkar, ‘As a protagonist, this is my first serial, so it is very special.’ ‘For this show, I had to study history. I am doing my post-graduation in history from Jadavpur University, so anyway, history attracts me,’ she added. Kuwasha went through rigorous training sessions to do justice to her character. She said, ‘Apart from studying history, I also had to take up physical training. I had to learn boxing. I also had to learn Morse code technology, lip reading. Since it’s a 50-year old story, I had to work on the language as well. I tried to hone my skills by watching old cinema. While doing all this, I didn’t realize when I transformed from Kuwasha to Padma.’ Simana Periye also stars Hritojeet Chattopadhyay in the lead role. It is produced/ created by Leo Films International.
