Meet the real Amber and Dhara

The identity of the leading ladies of Sony's Amber Dhara was kept under wraps for a long time. Finally, the channel has decided to end the entire suspense drama and reveal the two girls who play the conjoined twins. Kashmira Irani portrays the character of Amber and Sulgana Panigrahi plays Dhara. Kashmira hails from Pune, whereas Sulgana is a Delhi-girl. Both of them are second year students and have left their studies mid way to pursue their acting careers. "I had given an audition and was selected just after my first take," says Sulgana.

"I was called by the production house and was immediately selected to essay the role of Amber. Now as the show has recently hit the screens, both of us decided to postpone our studies until next year," they add. So, what kind of homework have both of them done to essay these very complex characters? " Both of us are new in this industry and did not even know the a-b-c of acting. It was our trainer Ishan Bakshi who polished and trained us. We also went through certain books and sites that threw more light on the subject of conjoined twins. The way they behave, live and dress up was a huge process and intricate too," says Sulgana What were the difficulties they faced during training and shooting for the show? "For almost eight months now we were not allowed to speak to anyone including our parents. We had to live our lives as conjoined twins and initially it was very tough. When we went for some shopping, people use to pass awful remarks and some were horrified to see us like this. We actually were told to essay the characters in real life too, be it while dressing or sleeping. Now we are habituated and it's become difficult to live separately," say the duo. "Things became a bit tough when I had to bent and put my weight on her and vice versa," adds Kashmira. Although I'm a right handed person, I had to use my left hand due to our conjoined status. This has become a routine and now there are times when I find it tough to use my right hand," says Sulgana. There are so many similarities between Sulgana and Dhara. "I can identify with my role completely as in real life too I am very traditional and love to read and write. Also, I am a very soft spoken person and love to cook," states Sulagana. "Amber is same like me naughty and very outspoken," clarifies Kashmira. Lets hope this tale of conjoined twins rakes in TRPs too.
