There is great excitement on the sets of Zee TV's historical show Shobha Somnath Ki as the creative’s have just finished filming an extensive fight sequence between the ruler of Bharuch, Dadda Chalukya (Tarun Khanna) and the Afghan invader Mohammad Ghaznavi (Vikramjeet Virk).

“This might be the biggest sequence between any two actors in the history of TV, as it involved fighting in three forms i.e. Free hand wrestling, jousting (attacking each other with spears on horseback) and sword fighting which also involves fist fighting when my sword falls off,” says Tarun. The telecast of this sequence began yesterday and will carry forward to next Saturday’s episode.

Talking about the background of the fight, Tarun who was last seen in Jhansi Ki Rani says, "Mohammad Ghaznavi had sneaked into Bharuch and was killing Dadda Chalukya’s aides (commander –in- chief). And just when he was about to kill the Rajpurohit, Dadda Chalukya catches him. During his trial he will be sentenced to death, but he challenges Dadda Chalukya to a one to one fight which the latter accepts. According to this challenge, if my character wins, Ghaznavi will leave India for good, but if he wins, Dadda Chalukya will give him his daughter Shobha’s hand in marriage and all the gold of Somnath.”

And Tarun, who is a black belt in martial arts, enjoyed shooting for the show: “I have done a lot of action on TV going before in my debut show Avinash IPS, while Vikram is also known to have done good action in Hindi and south flicks.” But this action sequence for this weekly show involved a lot of blood. “I hurt my left knee and it is still paining a lot,” adds Tarun. He also tells us that Vikramjeet Virk too fell down from the horse, but luckily nothing happened to him. Apart from this, a stunt guy was also hurt in another freak accident.

“We shot non-stop for 50 hours then took a break to sleep for ten hours and then shot for another 30 hours again,” adds the actor. In fact, Tarun, who has also acted in Kahaniya Vikram Aur Betaal and Ganga both on Colors, is thankful to Siddharth Tewary (Swastik Pictures) for having given him and Vikramjeet a chance to show case their fighting skills.
