Vishal Malhotra says TV has become more powerful

Vishal Malhotra
Being in the TV industry for nearly 17 years, actor Vishal Malhotra has seen lots of changes in the industry. “The scenario has changed to a great extent. Now things have become more organized,” opines Vishal. In fact, he goes on to say that now TV has become a broader medium. “Earlier, people used to perceive films to be the most powerful medium. But now they also see TV in the same league,” he adds. And probably that’s why he makes this statement, “I would say I have been part of the entertainment industry, rather than segregating it.” Looking back, Vishal started off his entertainment career with Disney Hour on Zee TV way back in 1995 and later went on to do Hip Hip Hurray on the same channel and a Bollywood flick, Ishq Vishq. And currently, he is seen in Rajan Shahi’s Kuch Toh Log Kahenge aired on Sony Entertainment. He is enjoying playing Dr Rangnath in his first daily soap. In fact, he recently won an award for his role, 18th Lions Gold Awards for Best Supporting Actor. Vishal is happy and grateful to receive it. “It surely feels great to be recognized for your efforts. And since it was based on public voting, it is even more special to me,” he beams. He is surely a lucky lad to have won an award for his first daily show. But how did he do it? “The secret to my connection with the audiences is that I put a bit of myself in every character that I play. In fact, I would say that 70 percent of it is the real Vishal Malhotra,” he smiles. As for the future, Vishal just wants to act well. “I just want to better my level as an actor; I just want to keep growing,” ends Vishal.
