Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has been missing in action for a quite a long while now. While the veteran social activist may have chosen to stay away from politics unlike his erstwhile colleague Arvind Kejriwal, movies is something that Anna couldn’t say ‘No’ to. After multiple offers from movie makers to star in their films and subsequent refusals, the geriatric Anna has finally bit the movie bait. According to emerging reports, Anna will be making his film debut with Marathi movie ‘Andolan’. And guess what? Anna will be playing himself in the movie. The movie is being directed by Prashant Madhukar Rane who was quoted saying that the movie is about four children who are inspired by personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose among others and rise up to create a “mini-revolution”. The surprising bit however is Anna’s casting himself. It is Anna himself who asked the director to cast him in the movie. Reportedly, so impressed was Anna after watching the special screening of the movie that he just wanted to be a part of it. The director then had to make certain minor changes and have included Anna as the chief narrator. And Anna’s acting talent surprised all those present. Reportedly, the social activist said all his lines in a single take prompting his director to call him a natural actor. The movie was shot in January 2014 in Anna’s hometown, Ralegaon Siddhi and the makers plan to release the movie soon.
