Before you get it wrong, let us clarify that this is all about being J in a good way. Kalki Koechlin is not a great dancer and the lady has no problems admitting her shortcomings. “I am a terrible dancer and I have to practice a lot to get my steps right.” Fortunately for her, she didn’t have to shake her leg with the king of dance, Govinda in Happy Ending. However, that doesn’t stop her from being envious about Chi Chi’s famed dancing abilities. Quips Kalki, “I am so jealous of Govinda. He is really spontaneous. I can’t even try to be like him. It is not in my rhythm at all. Even rehearsing the dance steps of Badtameez Dil (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) was also difficult.” Kalki is however all praise for Govinda’s brand of comedy. “Govinda is very funny. He does everything with such a straight face. Even if something is really funny, he will say it with a deadpan kind of face and he does it in real life too.” The actress who will be seen in a comic role in Happy Ending also feels comedy is a challenging art to perform onscreen. “Comedy is a challenge. You have to be spontaneous while doing comic roles. I feel one can’t prepare for comedy. It has to come naturally. You have to be always alert and on your toes while performing funny scenes. For me, nothing gives me great pleasure than seeing people laughing at my comic scenes. I hope that we have managed to do it well in this film too. Happy Ending will open in theaters across India on 21 November.
