MUMBAI: OTT platform ALT Balaji is buzzing for good reasons. Their upcoming project The Family, which is said to be loosely inspired from The Godfather, is one of the most expensive digital projects in the nation with a budget of approximately 50 crores.

TellyChakkar had earlier reported about popular actresses Sandeepa Dhar and Veebha Anand joining the multi starrer which already has big names like Vivek Oberoi, Rithvik Dhanjani and Ravi Kissen.   

Now, according to TellyChakkar’s exclusive information, another big actress has joined the mafia drama. Film actress and model Gayatri Iyer, who has been a popular name in the South Indian film industry, has bagged a pivotal role in The Family.

Iyer made her big Bollywood debut with 2018’s popular flick Raid starring Ajay Devgan. Her character of an income tax officer got her much acclaim. Courtesy this film, she bagged the prestigious digital project. As per our information, Gayatri will be seen opposite Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. Her character will be romantically involved with the lead character essayed by Oberoi and add much mileage to the narrative.

What do you think about Vivek Oberoi?

When TellyChakkar contacted Iyer, she confirmed the news with us. “Right from the look and feel to each character, Ekta Kapoor is involved intricately with the project.  Sunil Manchanda has written parts of the screenplay. So I feel it’s going to be a great show finally when it’s out,” she said.

As reported earlier, the project is already on floors and Iyer has also started shooting for the same.
