After 9X now it’s the turn of NDTV to launch its new Hindi Entertainment channel. At a press conference today they announced their new venture NDTV Imagine. The channel will be spearheaded by Sameer Nair in partnership with ace producer and director Karan Johar. "Imagination is to dream. It's to entertain and delight. NDTV Imagine promises to create entertainment business for consumers. Today we take our first baby step and hope to go long way," said Sameer Nair, CEO of NDTV Imagine. Further elaborating on the content of the channel Mr. Nair said, "We guarantee the return of family entertainment with fresh ideas and concepts into Indian living rooms. We are working with the best production houses and the finest talent in the business. It’s an exciting, explosive combination and we hope to create our best work yet." NDTV Imagine also gave a glimpse of its Prime time fiction shows like Dharam Veer, Ek Packet Umeed, Jasuben Jayantilaal Joshi Ki joint Family, Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Raajkumar Aaryyan, and Main Teri Parchhain Hoon. They are also coming up with two reality shows Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan and Dhoom Macha De. The channel production partners include Sagar Arts, Hats Off Productions, Rajshri Films, SOL, Sphere Origins, Endemol India, Synergy Adlabs, DJ's Creative Unit amongst others. Other general entertainment channels that have been launched recently include INX Media Pvt Ltd's '9X' and UTV Software Communication Ltd's 'Bindass'. Well it seems like this year is a season of new channels. Hits or flops? It’s too early to predict.
