Director Gul Khan who has been associated with some hit shows like Shaheen, Rishtey and Sanjeevani is turning producer with her debut show which will have Rahil Azam and Chahat Khanna as leads. The show will be aired on NDTV Imagine and the production house is named Pentad Films. Gul says, “I have been directing for the past 11 years and feel that it is the right time to venture into production. I know the technicalities so it would not be a difficult task. I think as a producer you are at liberty of working your way. Things that you can’t do as a director can be done as a producer, be it budget, cast or sets. The only bad thing is that as a producer you are the one who spends money.” The show is expected to be titled Chand Ke Paar Chalo and will have Muslim backdrop. “Most of the shows have a certain kind of module. I just happen to choose this module as it fits the colour and culture of the storyline. There are not many shows with Muslim backdrops,” informs Gul. “I don’t believe in this divide. I chose a Muslim backdrop as that is the feel of the story. I think a show works on the story. If the story is good irrespective of the sets and backdrop, the show will be a hit else the show will be a flop no matter how expensive your sets are or what the backdrop is,” adds the producer. It is reported that this romantic comedy will be shot in Lucknow and Hyderabad. Though the channel and the production house are still contemplating on the time slot but the show is expected to launch in mid-June and its shooting will commence after 20 days. Chahat, the female lead will play the role of a Muslim girl who doesn’t follow rules. She is an Indo-western girl who is very modern and bubbly.
